A Taste of Home

Got home from VA Blog Fest last Sunday night to an ongoing fishing fiesta taking place at our Sasqua Pond. Daughter Brynn and friends had already caught 4 bass, but I only got to photograph the fifth bass caught, (all 5 of which were between 2 and 5 pounds!). Below is a pic of Josh and his personal first-ever-caught-large-mouth-bass! (The fifth & final fish caught.)

We're circle of life eaters, so, of course, all decent-sized fish caught were dressed/cleaned and became part of a wonderful dinner. Must tell you, there's simply no better eating than fresh-water fish.

Brynnly's been taught very well by her Grand Roger about the art of cleaning fish, and by her Grandma Mary about the art of cooking fish. Thus, I, (mom) have nothing to do other than to eat the fish and love every single bite! Simply nothing better! (Leftovers make for the best breakfast you'll ever have! Do plan to have leftovers.)

Gone Fishin'

As some of you know, we live on a pond.  There are four families that share this wondrous piece of water and it's shores, and we have worked diligently to make this a living, breathing, healthy entity.  As a collective foursome, we decided to "save" this water hole, and for our efforts, we've been told what we can do to further our pond's life, by our local governent, though we four pond owners had that very same intent in the first place.  Ah well, at least on this very minor of levels, there wasn't a huge disagreement on how things should be done! Government...local or country-wide...what a crock!!

Anywho - the above fish is a healthy bass caught in our pond.  It's a testimony to the well-being of the balance of this very dear body of water.  (Oh, and below are some of the 25, not counting all the little ones we threw back, bluegill/sunnys we caught.)

Whatever - freshwater fish???  Good Eatin'!!!
BTW - I cleaned 'em all - my dad taught me well!

Sunday Serenity

Father's Day...

Doesn't really matter that it's not "his kid"...
He loves his Connor just the same.

The good dads of the world know how to ~father~ any child.

Above, GB fishing and fathering our nephew Connor-Man.

A big Father's Day thanks so very much to all the men in the world
who are good and positive influences in our children's lives.
You all are truly the
best!
and to my incredibly wonderful father - love love LOVE you!

Trout Stream

Trout fisherman trout fishing on the Saugatuck River

Trout streams full of

Trout dreams*
*this photo courtesy of this guy. Thanks!

One man's trout dream come true:
Trout fisherman wading his
favorite trout stream with his
favorite trout fly-pole, smokin' his
favorite big fat stogie,
waiting for the trout to strike.

Maybe the stogie smoke keeps the bugs away, too...
