Got home from VA Blog Fest last Sunday night to an ongoing fishing fiesta taking place at our Sasqua Pond. Daughter Brynn and friends had already caught 4 bass, but I only got to photograph the fifth bass caught, (all 5 of which were between 2 and 5 pounds!). Below is a pic of Josh and his personal first-ever-caught-large-mouth-bass! (The fifth & final fish caught.)
We're circle of life eaters, so, of course, all decent-sized fish caught were dressed/cleaned and became part of a wonderful dinner. Must tell you, there's simply no better eating than fresh-water fish.
Brynnly's been taught very well by her Grand Roger about the art of cleaning fish, and by her Grandma Mary about the art of cooking fish. Thus, I, (mom) have nothing to do other than to eat the fish and love every single bite! Simply nothing better! (Leftovers make for the best breakfast you'll ever have! Do plan to have leftovers.)

expect anything!
OOoh.... damn. So jealous. I didn't even throw a hook in the water, much less fry a fish, while in MO.
ReplyDeleteGotta find a pond in CA.
Go Josh!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you are definitely making my mouth water! I love, love, love fresh fish... of any kind.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a nice first catch for Jason... way to go!
I'm always up for a meal that I don't have to cook!
ReplyDeleteWe are going fishing this weekend. I promised since he was so good about traveling for the past three weeks.
ReplyDeleteI have a pink rod and reel and pink lures that glitter...I even have a hat that says, "Of course, I fish like a girl!"
Oh I could thoroughly enjoy that fish and would wash it down with some of that Sin One Hard Cider I am now addicted to .. thanks to AG
ReplyDeleteWhere was I? I'm hungry.
ReplyDeleteI love fresh water fish! And now I'm hungry, too! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteWow - one fishes, the other cleans and cooks - and you just have to show up?
ReplyDeleteSo frickin' jealous...
Oh, yum!
ReplyDeleteDid you save me some leftovers?? YUM!
ReplyDeleteit's been ages and ages since i had fresh caught fish - YUM
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you have nothing to do with the cleaning. Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love fresh panfried fish! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is very fresh! Nice catch!
ReplyDeleteYum Yum for my Tum Tum!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading posts like this it makes it very hard for me to come up with even more excuses to not try fresh water fish. I might just cave and try it. But I draw the line at catching it myself. Nope, no way, ain't gonna happen...says the one who pretty much hates anything that comes outta the water!
ReplyDeleteIf you send me sommathat fried fish, I'll ship you some of that farmer's market honey. Or how about the contract on a certain brick house in Hudgins?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that does look good and if you have someone to do the cleanin' of them for you, all the better.
I'm skeptical on the fresh water fish. I've not yet developed a taste for trout or bass. I do love the salmon though... and Original Sin Cider!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good time to me! Nice bass, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fish!
