My Community Garden...disaster...
5/27/9
I don't know...maybe I'm not cut out to be a gardener. BUT
try I will! It's been incredibly cold and rainy here in the
northeast, but still...could the plants planted just grow???
6/1/9
I guess not.

Thank you!
Thank you for all your birthday wishes, my most dear friends & family. It truly meant everything to me. I had a lovely birthday - took the day off and slept in. Had a great lunch with Julie and that Mental Mama...and then spent the rest of the day preparing a ginormous amount of food for tonight. Yup, tonight's the night Julie ~
My SWF photo is courtesy of my mom and the beauty of Missouri last spring. I'm at work and it's the only sky photo I have.Labels: blessings, good things, Skywatch Friday

My World Tuesday
Monday through Friday I travel down the road that skirts the Saugatuck River. No matter what the season, there's always something happening on my river (yep, I've claimed ownership). Because it's a river with tides, it's even more changing than inland rivers.
If I didn't live on my adored pond, this is where I'd want to live. Perfection having that dock to walk down and be able to feed the birds of the river!
Other activities are taking place, too. Crewing from The Saugatuck Rowing Club, is always happening in the no-snow months both when I drive to work, and when I'm going home. I understand they have a river crew class for women of a ~certain age~ that's really really good exercise. I've successfully avoided that class thus far. (And I expect this state of affairs to continue into the future.)
Oh, and someone's fishin'! Wonder if he caught his dinner...

A Meal Paid Forward...
I was asked to Pay-It-Forward.
Such a good thing to do.
Dinner for 100!
An explanation: I was the happy recipient of not one (Diane) but two (Daryl) friend's pay-it-forward posts. Above is my pay-it-forward. In their names and in the name of all the good folks that comment here I've made the above donation to our local shelter. Don't know if they'll actually make a spaghetti dinner with the above, but all the ingredients are there if they want to! (And yes, something special is coming to MPM's picks amongst the commentors! I'll email the winners.)

SWF & a Bit of Sushi
7:14 pm Thursday - totally overcast skies
leaves are just about completely filled in...
but late this year.
~
AND NOW
One of the very best lunches I've had..
First, salmon tartar - a disappointment only because
we were expected to pick it up with chopsticks...
would have been better and easier on a sesame cracker.
Second, a phenomenal spicy tuna roll, totally thrown over the top of excellence by a drizzling of red raspberry sauce with a sprinkling of toasted almond slices on top. Somebody certainly knows what they're doing!
Thank you, Daryl for our introduction to the superb Momoya - what a wonderful food experience (and good times with friends new and old)! Ohhh! The lunch we all had! Excellent!!

Stairs (& my P.I.F. - at last!)
N'awlins...
Nahhhh!
NYC!
5/23/9
Yes, I know any native New Orleans person would be appalled
at the above N'awlins spelling and pronunciation!
~
An embarrassing amount of months ago, I was chosen as one of AsthmaGirl's (aka the lovely Diane) recipients of her pay-it-forward post. She sent me a lovely sour-dough starter, the beginnings of which is many years old. More recently I got (by subterfuge, I must admit, but how that subterfuge was done, I'll never tell) a wonderful pay-it-forward from Ms. Daryl! She sent me a lovely and much loved vintage Vera Bradley bag she had received from a very dear friend who has since passed on, and a totum key chain, which, if I understand this correctly, any time I have it on me and eat, no calories actually are consumed by me - and that I like a LOT, (if I'm wrong about this explanation, please do not tell me!).
And now it is my turn to Pay-It-Forward.
Anyone who'd like to participate, just leave a comment here. Eventually I'll throw the few or many names into a hat and let MPM choose 2 or 3 to Pay-it-Forward to! I have in mind what I'm sending the winners (appropriate even if you're a guy), and all you have to do is promise to, well, Pay-it-Forward! If you want to take part in this, but have already participated in P-I-F or don't have a blog, just make a donation to your local food kitchen instead if you win. That'll make nice. Hmmmm....matter of fact, in honor of this, I think I'll make a donation to our food kitchen! Any excuse to do that is lovely, and P-I-F seems a better excuse than most. (And if you want to play along but don't want a physical present, I'll make a donation to our food kitchen in your name.)
So, my friends, there you have it!

a lovely evening to all!!
