Grasshopper!
A photo from my visit last summer to Missourahhh. This certainly works for me for ~ABC Wednesday - It's a G This Week~, but I can feel the backlash comin' already! I just know some entomologist, or entomologist-minded person is going to declare, in no uncertain terms, that the above bug is nowhere near a grasshopper! Do NOT spoil my day, you entomologist, you!

expecting Spring...
Please???
I'll go with you, Annie. If it looks like a grasshopper and hops like a grasshopper, it's a grasshopper.:) Neat capture in the flower, whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with both of you! It's a gorgeous shot and perfect for the day!
ReplyDeleteIt's a baby grasshopper.
ReplyDeleteWe can forgive whatever error there might be present in the identification of said bug due to the Glorious flower!
ReplyDeleteYou've put a smile on my face today - Thank you for that!!! I call it a grasshopper too! hehehe
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a cute little baby grasshopper. Pretty shot.
ReplyDeleteRoger says:
ReplyDeleteThat is a Katydid, not a Grasshopper.
But... since you need a "g", we'll call it a grasshopper this week.
love,
Roger & Daddy.
Great photo, and I know how you feel. I posted Gorillas for G and I'm not sure they're not some other kind of ape!

Whatever that bug technically is, this is a really great shot!
ReplyDeleteA very Good G...Grasshopper or not.
This is clearly a stunted grasshopper.
ReplyDeleteThis week!
Lovely Annie!
Works for me. Who am I to argue. Great and fun post.
ReplyDeleteAt least you will have a K-word now! But for today it's a grasshopper! Really nice picture by the way
ReplyDeleteCute little fellow! I've got it too :-) Grasshopper that is.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Tyra
Glorious does describe the photo...it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIts a GREAT shot of a GREEN GEOURGOUS GRASSHOPPER GOING to the GROCERY store!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I'm concerned, if it hops it's some sort of grasshopper by whatever name it might have. Love photo and he is a very cute little fellow.
ReplyDeleteMay be it's a grass cricket?? It's grassy anyway!
ReplyDeleteClose enough! Looks like a grasshopper from here - but I'm one who calls a wasp 'a bee', so... Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteIf it looks like a grasshopper, and hops like a grasshopper .. then it IS a grasshopper.
ReplyDeleteDo I hear any nay sayers?
I didnt think so.
Whatever else it is, it is green! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhatever else it is, it is green! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and striking contrast between the small creature and the gorgeous flower. I say its a grasshopper!
ReplyDeleteNice choice--thanks for sharing!
neat.
ReplyDeleteI have a cousin who's an entomologist who discovered some new bug in central or south america. What a different line of work.
I don't know... I see them feeding on my plants all summer, so I deemed them grasshoppers long ago. I don't care what anyone else says. If it's shaped like a grasshopper, is green like a grasshopper, and feeds on plants like a grasshopper, then it is a grasshopper. So sayeth Snooty. Amen.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a type of cricket....
ReplyDeleteI love that color pink!
This is Dr. CG here, registered entomiolgist. And although this little bug is in the arachnid family, it is not really a true grasshopper.
ReplyDeleteI think his name is Jiminy.
Don't be hatin the good doctor!!
Annie: That is a beautiful capture of the little grasshopper.
ReplyDeleteDo you have no SWF post...? I love this shot! It is glorious!
