In more ways than one...
As you know if you've spent a time or two perusing this little old blog of mine, I have a strong affinity for water. We live by the side of a beautiful pond, my parents live on a pond as well, with a gorgeous creek flowing through the valley below their home. For years we spent Christmas on the ocean in Cayman, and I live a stone's throw away from Long Island Sound. Water everywhere I go. It simply fills my world.
There's not much left here in lower Fairfield County that says New England. Too many "foreigners" have moved in to destroy the vestiges of what New England was - think the old "Christmas in Connecticut" movie. (Ahem...I happen to be one of those foreigners.) Today, to really get a taste of the ~human~ personality of New England, you really must travel to the north or north east (and quite a ways at that) of our fine state. Just not a lot left here.
However, we still have the quentessential New England shoreline.
Completely unique, our cold-water coast,
Whether in Connecticut or Maine.
And simply beautiful.
Isn't is amazing? The two photos above were taken within minutes of each other.
Look at the difference in the light!
Nature. Just Awesome!!!

expect anything!
P. S. Monday, we spent a few hours at our Community Garden. Not much we could do - we're waiting for the delivery of the community top soil, and, of course, no one knows when it's to be delivered. And, of course, with night-time temps hovering in the 40's, that doesn't help at all either. Pics tomorrow of the itty bitty progress being made - Oh!! The anticipation you must be feeling! ;-)
Delightful shots! I love the water, too! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWho really are the originals of one place? Places and people change and that´s life.
ReplyDeleteI know that view! The power plant was the beacon that told me we were almost back to the marina after a day of fishing! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteNew England still looks like New England in your photos - beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky;)
ReplyDeleteI like you am a "comeover" to my area, but I often think we vakue the place we have adopted to live more. Beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteI was in the same area yesterday and stopped to reflect how lucky we are to have such beauty close by....
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - it's why I'm glad to have good friends living there so I have a reason to visit the area.
ReplyDeleteAnn: You know I love water so you got me with the first photo, neat shots and story.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful shots with great clarity and stillnes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference...I like the light in the second one. It would be wonderful to live near an ocean even if the "Christmas in Connecticut" charm is missing. One of these days we are going to take a vacation that direction instead of heading west all the time! I really want to visit New England.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the priviledge to live on water, it would be a river or lake. Although I love the ocean, I respect it way to much to want to live on its shore.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love New England and visit often to northern MA.
ReplyDeleteI have always lived by water and always will.
I am currently landlocked and miss living on the beach!
ReplyDeleteAnd I guess the place is just crawling with lobsters too! My favorite! Nice shots! I love the water too. I have a garden update too!
ReplyDeleteI love CT and New England ... and water ... I could use some of that top soil
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to visit there since I saw Mystic Pizza
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could live anywhere that wasn't near the water. It's in my soul!
ReplyDeleteSo peaceful and calming. We're landlocked here in CO, but we do have some awesome lakes and rivers.
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful shots and I have not enlarged them yet...will do that in a bit. they would have made good Sky Watch Friday shots.
ReplyDeleteI am also a great lover of water... be it frozen or free flowing. So how the hell did I wind up in the desert of West Texas? I think I might have been in a coma.
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous shots, my dear!
yes, it's amazing to see nature changes it look in just a matter of minutes even seconds:) those are beautiful pictures!!
ReplyDeleteI love the water, too. I've lived on a river and by a pond. It's good for the soul, it is. It must be beautiful where you live!
