Every fall I wait for my "autumn snowy skies" to begin to appear. It happened last week for the first time this year! I work in an office with no windows - yep, it's awful - so for a period of the day, I'm never sure what's going on in the outside world. I was thrilled to walk out to my car at 3pm and discover this magnificent sky! Tho I knew it wasn't gonna happen, it looked like snow - or at least a major cold front was upon us! Whatever, the sky was perfection for a while.
Five minutes later, around the bend,
and on the other side of the river...

expect anything!
Apparently that was the sky that changed last Saturday's forecast from 65 and sunny to 55 and rainy. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteBut I must say, it is an awesome picture of the sky.
must be hard to work in an office without windows. :O
ReplyDeleteLooks like a storm is brewing! But snow? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING those skies! I can see why you can hardly wait for them and why being cooped up in an office would make you a bit antsy. BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteVery threatening clouds!! I love the 2nd photo with the church through the trees and the dark clouds - it offers great lighting
ReplyDeleteI hadn't hear them called snowy sky but it fits. I too love the photo of the church spire.
ReplyDeleteMe no can talk.... If I would read what I type it might make a lot more sense. I meant "heard".
ReplyDeleteThose are neat skies... I love it when the weather looks like that! Yeh... well, after a heat wave all summer for over 2 months and nothing but sunshine and bright blue sky, it can be boring! =)
ReplyDeleteNow I woke up this morning and it is currently 21 F (-6 C) and we should be reaching a high of 42 F (6 C) today... I think snow is just around my corner... sigh.
Hope you have a good weekend.

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHey there. If you will email the pic of your cloud to me at dewdrop_in_sga@yahoo.com, I will gladly check it out to see if I can identify it.
ReplyDeleteAs for hurricane season... it is definitely winding down, but certainly not over (don't let your guard down). At this moment, there is an area of low pressure with some chance of development over in the Lesser Antilles, which if it develops could impact the US.
Wonderful autumn colours in the first and the secons has a really nice perspective.
ReplyDeletefantastic colors and I absolutely love the second photo!
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF!
Beautiful Annie - I love stormy skies!
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome sight....looks pretty menacing.
ReplyDeleteOH. Those are truly wonderful pix ... I love the composition of them both ... I love looking through the trees .. and that steeple ... damn, Annie, these are fine.

Those clouds are magnificent. The light beneath them is gorgeous. I'm intrigued the way the grey clouds make the light all the more golden. Gorgeous stuff.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteWow, you certainly caught two spectacular shots. I'm so glad you stopped for the second one, it's one of those perfect moments where the sunshine is constricted between dark clouds and the earth, somehow giving it a sharper brilliance.
ReplyDeleteWow...love that snowy looking sky! Beautiful! and the steeple is so pretty! The type of view that painters love to paint.
ReplyDeleteI always love your pictures! What an eye you have...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement about David ((hugs back at ya)). Your area of the world is gorgeous and are you looking forward to snow? It would be nice to jump from Autumn to Spring one year LOL.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures as usual girl!
