Tomatillo on the Vine

I have to admit...I've never known exactly what tomatillos were.
Fruit? Vegetable?
What did I know!

Well! I've now tasted their goodness - wonderful!
And I love their Japanese lantern looks.
Must declare this a wonderful eating experience!

  2. Arent all tomatoes fruit? Do the tomatillos have seeds? If so, they are fruit. Are they smaller then regular tomatoes? Do they taste different? They sure are pretty, your section of the garden did pretty well considering how rainy it was in June. Brava Annie!

  3. It DOES look like a little Japanese lantern, doesn't it?
If they have seeds, I think they are fruits...but I could be wrong!

  5. I think they're a fruit that is treated like veg. I'm told they're related to gooseberries.

Beautiful shot though I'm not a big fan of them.

  8. I'm so impressed I would bow to you if you were here. I LOVE tomatillos. I've grown them a couple of times, but they never got that big. Mine were all tiny. I've never tried here because my garden is so tiny. Salsa is SO much better with these in them!
