Unexpected

I have no idea why I'm so disturbed by the death of Natasha Richardson, but I am. She is and was a brilliant human. And I'm going to miss her mark on this world of ours. Silly, isn't it?

Rest in peace, dear lady, do rest in peace.

  1. I guess many of us are saddened by her sudden death. I wrote about it as well. She really was a shining star & one of my favorites.

  3. Its always sad to lose someone young who is making a contribution and to lose her to such a tragic accident is even harder ... I cant imagine the pain her family is feeling ... some had no chance to say goodbye

  4. I agree. And where did you take this shot? Vermont? I love it!

  5. Not silly at all, just very sad. :(

  6. No it isn't silly - She was suppose to be ok, then all of a sudden I'm hearing that she passed - I just couldn't believe it.
This photo here is GORGEOUS - where is it & who is the cross for? I love the sepia shading, it really sets off the pic!

  7. Your photo is a lovely tribute. My husband and i were shocked, too. We are skiers and know it's a very dangerous sport. Still - she was a beginner and couldn't have been going fast when she fell - it was a freak accident and now she's gone.

  8. Annie,
I'm so glad you posted this because I feel exactly the same way! It's not that I thought of her all that often, but rather the fact that it was so unexpected. I feel so bad for her husband and sons. Aren't they about the same age as Dianna's when she passed away?

  9. I know what you mean. I had that bottom-dropped-out feeling I get when a good and decent person passes suddenly. So sad.

  10. It's freaky because it is a picture of our own mortality and how fragile life is.

  11. It makes me sad also. I ususally don't pay much attention to the celebs but this is a tradgedy for her family and for us. I liked her in "Nell." I never knew she was married to Liam until this happened. It's also so sad to see a life snuffed out so prematurely. The shock is that she seemed okay at first. It's scary to think that something like this can be hiding in your brain when you seem so normal. I think that is the second shock. It is a double whammy: shock of her death, shock of how she died.

  12. I don't think it's silly. I'm rarely disturbed by Hollywood deaths. I am not a star-struck individual. They are ordinary people. However, I am saddened by the deaths of ordinary people at times. But she is more than that. I really loved her as an actress and person. I'm not sure what will happen the next time I watch the modern Parent Trap with my girls. It will make me sick, I'm sure. And I've had a crush on her husband for longer than I can remember. I can't even quip about being there to comfort him because I'm so sad for him. You're definitely not silly in my opinion.

  13. Not silly, she was so young and this was so tragic and sudden. And her kids....

  14. I don't know - I can be walking along and all of a sudden I think how sad it all is and how the whole family must feel.

Why - when we don't know them - do we feel like this? I cried for days when the crocodile hunter died and Heath Ledger has brought tears many times too. I don't get it - and really - I don't care that I cry for these people. I'm human.

  15. I think many of us were especially disturbed. Many of us have had similar falls - and yet we're still here. Why her? Why after such a seemingly "no big deal" fall? What happens if I fall down?

Her death was tragic, and it's very frightening.

  16. I was very shocked by her death. My boyfriend was in a bicycle/car accident in 2003 and had to have neurosurgery for a subdural hematoma. We thought these things were fixable, so her death hit us very close to home. We're still trying to figure out what went wrong and why the doctors didn't do surgery.
