Cocktails & Pellets Every Evening @ 5-ish...

Cocktail time for the humans....

And feeding time for the albino catfish...

...and the mallards

Part of the daily routine at my parents home is feeding time. Every evening around the cocktail hour for we humans, dad also feeds the ducks and catfish. All you have to do is walk to the edge of the pond and the catfish are there swimming about waiting, impatiently it seems, to be fed. I took over the feeding several days while there, and dad - he who claims not to be a dog guy - told me it was very important when flinging the food pellets to be sure to let several "accidently" fall out of your hand behind you for Cody. Yep, dad is definitely not a dog guy.
Oh, and if we don't get around to feeding the ducks when they think they should be fed? Up they come on the deck, to the porch windows. Then they stand there peering in and all the while quacking rather indignantly. Such demanding fish and ducks my parents have!

  1. I once knew an indignant duck. It was mean, too. No, it was a goose and everyone was afraid of it. That sucker would bite.

Sweet story about your pops. Sorry I got sidetracked there. HOPE I SEE YOU TOMORROW.

  9. Tis a good thing the catfish are confined to the pond or else they'd probably be up on the deck too when feeding time is late.

  12. Love the tale of the indignant ducks. I think your dad is a bluffer: drop a few pellets behind for Cody? Oh, yeah!

  13. The ways we let animals manipulate us. But that's probably better than humans.

I have a cat that will only drink water when he's seen it freshly go into the dish. It doesn't matter if it was a second before. He has to SEE it.
