Sunday Serenity

"Why did you do all of this for me?" Wilber asked. "I don't deserve it. I've never done anything for you."

"You have been my friend," replied Charlotte. "That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die... By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows, anyone's life can stand a little of that."

~from the novel, Charlotte's Web, by E. B. White

  1. Isn't it amazing how something that looks so delicate can be so strong.

Such a beautiful picture of a wonder of nature.

  3. Beautiful! Charlotte was a wonderful little spider with lots of good life lessons. This shot is just beatiful and you really set it so artistically with the trees and sun! Very serene!

  4. It almost doesn't look real. This beautiful web reminds me of a lace doily...and it is...made by nature!

  5. I am now even more green with envy ... spideweb shots elude me ... frustrate me .. my only consolation is I am not wasting film .. merely recyclable pixels

  11. When I first saw this photo I thought someone had shot a hole through your window! It turned out to be much better than I expected. Nice words to read again, so much better than the movie. It's been so long since I read the book. Thanks for reminding me!

  13. Excellent web photo! Did I tell you I tried every single day to get a picture of a spider web when I was in MO, but failed? I knew where 3 big ones were, but the light never hit them right. I was hoping for dew, but there never was any on the webs. Yours is just fantastic!
